Economic situation in Kosovo to be presented to OSCE ambassadors in Vienna

Belgrade, 11 January 2007

Head of the economic team for Kosovo-Metohija and southern Serbia Nenad Popovic will present the current economic situation in Kosovo-Metohija and the team's activities to ambassadors of the Organisation for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) on January 12 in Vienna. Popovic will put special emphasis on the recently adopted Strategy for Long-Term Economic Development of Serb communities in the province.

Popovic said that the international community should be acquainted with concrete steps made by the Serbian government aimed at improving the economic development of Kosovo-Metohija which should result in the prosperity of all citizens of the Serbian southern province and the entire region.

The presentation themed "Joined Strengths for Kosovo-Metohija's Economic Development" will be attended by OSCE ambassadors from Russia, Austria, Germany, Italy, Greece, Finland, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Denmark, Ireland and Slovenia, as well as OSCE representatives from Romania, Sweden, Belgium, USA, France, Great Britain and Norway.

During his stay in Vienna Popovic will also meet with OSCE Head of Mission in Kosovo-Metohija Werner Wnendt, as well as representatives of the Austrian Chamber of Commerce, Austrian Development Agency and the Austrian Association of Industrialists, after which a press conference will be held at the Serbian embassy in Vienna.
