Although, aside from ethnic Albanians, members of the Serbian community also applied for these positions, the interim assembly appointed ethnic Albanians both to positions of president and first deputy, instead of choosing a member from a community whose rights have been violated drastically, alarmingly and continuously.
The interim Kosovo assembly has no mechanisms for prevention of majorisation in the voting process. Therefore, it is clear that the principle of multiethnicity cannot be respected anywhere in Kosovo-Metohija if it is not possible to appoint non-Albanians in an institution that deals with the protection of human rights, such as the office of the ombudsman.
