Governor of the National Bank of Serbia (NBS) Radovan Jelasic said that this year’s inflation was projected at 9.3% and will be under 7% at the end of the year.

The 2006 inflation will be between 6.5% and 7% whereas price growth will stand at nearly 6%.
He said that NBS’ aim is 2007 inflation of between 4% and 8% and stressed that the central bank will take all measures to attain that aim.
According to Jelasic, the main challenge for the NBS in 2007 will be to strengthen the current level of low inflation rate, stable foreign currency rate and strong financial system.
