During today's meeting with representatives of UNMIK and the Kosovo Energy Corporation (KEK), a majority of administrative and legal obstacles for the delivery of humanitarian aid in the form of electricity have been overcome.
Popovic said that technical details concerning the delivery will be worked out as soon as next week by experts from the Electrical Power Industry of Serbia, KEK and UNMIK.
However, the delegations of the Economic team and Telekom Srbija on one side, and UNMIK on the other, did not change their earlier attitudes concerning the blocking of Telekom Srbija's transmitter in the province.
Insisting on the fact that the legal framework in Kosovo-Metohija has been changed with the adoption of UN Security Council Resolution 1244, UNMIK representatives do not accept as valid the licence of Telekom Srbija for which this company paid 125 million Deutsche marks in 1997.
Popovic underlined that Telekom Srbija is a company that respects legal regulations in Kosovo-Metohija, but also points out that acquired rights of Telekom Srbija must be respected as well because this company has been active in the telecommunications sector for a large number of years, it employs more than 200 workers in the province, it has invested a lot there and in the next four years it plans to invest the additional €100 million in Kosovo-Metohija.
The delegation of the Economic team at the meeting in Pristina also included experts from the Serbian Ministry of Energy and Mining, the Electric Power Industry of Serbia and Telekom Srbija.
