Djuric told Tanjug that Ahtisaari’s only task from the mandate he got is to help find a compromise solution for Kosovo-Metohija.
If this task is a “nonsense” for him ,then Ahtisaari either does not want to do his job or is incapable of helping to find a compromise, Djuric said.
He stressed that “in either case, saying that the possibility to find a solution is a ‘nonsense’ means that Ahtisaari should conclude that he should withdraw and let someone else be the chief negotiator who will believe and work with the aim of reaching an agreement.”
As there were actually no real negotiations on Kosovo-Metohija’s future status, the best solution would be to appoint a new chief negotiator, who will respect the UN Charter and start all-inclusive and direct talks between Belgrade and Pristina that would lead to a compromise, Djuric stressed.
On Friday, December 1, Ahtisaari said that trying to find a solution for Kosovo-Metohija through a compromise is a “nonsense”.
In the 12th European Forum in Berlin, Ahtisaari said that he is therefore forced to come up with his proposal, at the same time claiming that he never said that Kosovo Albanians are entitled to an independent Kosovo.
