Dačić emphasised that the true strength of the police was based on mutual trust and close cooperation with the community, and that every police duty represented a responsibility towards the country and each of its citizens.
According to him, the system is constantly changing because forms of crime, technology, security threats and methods of criminal activity are also changing, meaning that education does not end with obtaining a degree, but requires constant professional development and the further advancement of acquired knowledge.
Dačić welcomed the freshmen to one of the most modern universities in the region and a strategic resource for the Ministry of the Interior not only in terms of education, but also research and development.
He expressed his gratitude to the professors for using their knowledge and experience to help ensure that future Ministry of the Interior personnel are competent and worthy of the profession they have chosen, and stressed that the Ministry would continue to invest in the quality of the University of Criminal Investigation and Police Studies’ teaching process, through systematic investment in training, professional placements, professional development and the modernisation of working conditions.
At the ceremony, the Student of the Generation awards were presented to students who completed their studies with the highest grade point averages, as well as the Department’s Symbol of Honour awards to the highest-ranked freshmen in all study programmes.
