The Serbian state negotiating team for the future status of Kosovo-Metohija, in a meeting held late this afternoon, discussed a number of issues related to the current situation with Kosovo-Metohija talks and concluded that Serbia’s international position is better today than it was before.
Special attention in the talks was addressed to analysis of stands in the international community following a ministerial meeting of the Contact Group that took place on September 20 in New York and a UN Security Council session on September 22.
The negotiating team concluded that the country’s international position is much better than many thought and assessed that there is ever-increasing understanding for the Serbian position both in international community and in the region.
The team also concluded that it is necessary to continue negotiations on decentralisation, protection of Serbian religious and cultural legacy in the province as well as on ownership and economic issues so as to improve the position of the Serbian people and the Serbian Orthodox Church in Kosovo-Metohija.
