Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of the Interior Ivica Dačić met today with European Commissioner for Internal Affairs and Migration Magnus Brunner to discuss further improving cooperation between Serbia and the European Union in the field of internal affairs and migration.

The emphasis was placed on the fight against irregular migration, further development of the legal migration and asylum systems, as well as strengthening cooperation in the field of border management and visa policy harmonisation.
Dačić said that Serbia remains a reliable partner of the European Union and that it is firmly committed to continuing its European path, with further alignment with EU standards and policies in the field of internal affairs.
He stressed that continuous dialogue with the institutions of the European Union is of key importance for maintaining stability and security, as well as for further strengthening Serbia’s capacity in migration management.
The interlocutors assessed that it is necessary to continue intensive cooperation, the exchange of information and joint activities with the aim of strengthening border security and the efficient management of migration flows, which is a shared priority of Serbia and the European Union.
