Popovic, who is also head of the economic team for Kosovo-Metohija and south of Serbia, said that UNMIK reacted immediately after the Coordinating Centre protested on Thursday in a letter to UNMIK chief Joachim Rucker.
It is absolutely impermissible that at this moment, while negotiations on protection of cultural heritage are underway, industrial facilities are being built in the vicinity of Gazimestan, and therefore we hail this wise decision of UNMIK, Popovic pointed out.
This is just one in a series of attempts to frighten and directly pressure Serbs to move out, he said.
He expressed assurance that the decision to stop building works elsewhere in the province will be made soon as well, noting that construction of a big industrial facility in Velika Hoca is being built in the near vicinity of Serbian holy places.
