The reception was also attended by ministers in the Government of Serbia – Sara Pavkov, Jelena Žarić Kovačević, Nemanja Starović, Zoran Gajić and Nenad Vujić, Head of the Cabinet of the Prime Minister Nenad Đorđević, as well as representatives of the General Secretariat of the Government of Serbia.
On this occasion, Mesarović emphasised that Serbia and Italy share deep cultural and spiritual ties, that the two nations have exchanged knowledge, art and ideas throughout history, and that today they are building bridges of cooperation in the economy, science, education and tourism.
She expressed gratitude to Italy for supporting Serbia’s European path, as well as for confirming its participation in Specialised Expo, which will be held in Belgrade in 2027.
Serbian Ambassador in Rome Mirjana Jeremić conveyed her gratitude to Italy for its participation in the KFOR mission in Kosovo and Metohija, stating that the Serbian people feel safe where Italian soldiers are.
The Deputy Prime Minister of Italy expressed hope that the procedures for joining the EU will be shortened and that Serbia can now join the EU.
All bureaucratic obstacles to the free movement of goods, including the EES system, should be abolished and should not be applied when it comes to the transport of goods, Salvini stressed.
He also stressed that the Trieste-Belgrade railway corridor is very important, as a link between two states and two peoples.
