Prime Minister Professor Đuro Macut, MD, DSc, attended today the signing of a Cooperation Agreement between the Qualifications Agency of the Republic of Serbia and the Joint Council of Municipalities – Vukovar from the Republic of Croatia.
The agreement was signed by Director of the Qualifications Agency Professor Časlav Mitrović, DSc, and Joint Council of Municipalities – Vukovar President Dejan Drakulić.
The agreement regulates institutional cooperation in the field of recognition of foreign school and higher education qualifications for the purposes of employment, with the aim of improving the exchange of information, increasing transparency and legal certainty, and providing professional support to persons exercising their rights in the fields of education and employment.
The significance of the agreement lies in enhancing information and support for members of the Serb national community in Croatia, as well as in strengthening cooperation in line with European and regional standards, including the ENIC/NARIC network, without encroaching on the competences of state authorities.
Macut emphasised that the signing of this agreement represents a concrete step towards enabling an easier and simpler continuation of schooling and studies in Serbia for children and young people of Serb origin.
He added that the agreement, primarily through administrative and procedural facilitation, improves legal certainty, transparency and access to reliable information.
The Prime Minister stressed that the agreement is the result of responsible dialogue and cooperation between the line institutions, as well as broader social responsibility.
Macut stated that care for compatriots living outside the borders of Serbia is a lasting commitment of the government, and that the goal is to open additional opportunities for education, acquisition of knowledge and strengthening young people’s ties with their homeland, with full respect for applicable laws and institutional competences.
