Prime Minister Professor Đuro Macut, MD, DSc, today met with Speaker of the National Assembly of the United Republic of Tanzania Mussa Azzan Zungu to discuss ways to strengthen bilateral cooperation in areas of common interest, particularly in the year marking the 65th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations.

Macut emphasised that Serbia is ready to support Tanzania in the development of agriculture and the food industry, noting that agricultural faculties and institutes can provide expert support in the production of seeds, cereals and food products.
The meeting also explored possibilities to increase trade volume, reduce tariffs and enhance cooperation in areas of mutual interest, particularly tourism, science and education.
The interlocutors agreed on the need to create a strong foundation for establishing a strategic partnership, as well as to continue the close cooperation that began with the formation of the Non-Aligned Movement.
The Prime Minister noted that 1 September has been declared Non-Aligned Day to demonstrate commitment to strengthening political, economic, educational, cultural and all other ties with African countries.
He expressed hope that students from Tanzania will show even greater interest in studying at universities in Serbia through the World in Serbia programme, observing that upon completion of their studies, they become genuine bridges of friendship and cooperation between countries.
The Speaker of the National Assembly of Tanzania agreed with the Prime Minister that the development of bilateral relations is of particular importance for his country, expressing confidence that, thanks in part to parliamentary cooperation, the building of intergovernmental relations based on sincerity, mutual respect and solidarity will continue in the future.
