Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy Adrijana Mesarović announced this evening that 22,246 consumers in Serbia are currently without electricity.
In a statement to public service broadcaster Radio Television of Serbia, Mesarović reiterated that there is currently no more important task than stabilising the power system and ensuring regular electricity supply to every household.
She noted that the greatest efforts have been focused on removing fallen trees, pumping out water and providing assistance to emergency medical teams.
According to her, the situation has improved significantly, particularly in the Mačva District, which was the most severely affected over the past few days.
At present, 490 consumers in the district remain without electricity, the Minister said, recalling that on 7 January, as many as 25,200 consumers there were without power.
Mesarović stressed that the state is striving to restore regular electricity supply in the Kolubara, Bor and Zlatibor districts as well, where new problems are emerging due to weather conditions, adding that all available teams are working to repair faults, with more than 1,000 line workers currently engaged.
