Construction of bridge near Bačka Palanka to create new opportunities for economic development

Belgrade, 30 December 2025

Minister of Construction, Transport and Infrastructure Aleksandra Sofronijević signed today with Acting Director of public road management company Putevi Srbije Zoran Drobnjak and Director of Spanish Centunion Felipe Cañete a Commercial Agreement for the construction of a bridge with access roads across the Danube near Bačka Palanka.

Sofronijević emphasised that the new bridge, which will be located entirely in the territory of Serbia, will represent a permanent infrastructure solution that will enable the shortest connection between the settlements on the right bank of the Danube and Bačka.

Sofronijević explained that the bridge, almost two kilometres long, with modern access roads, will contribute to better connectivity of Bačka Palanka with the Srem settlements, Mačva and Republika Srpska, in what will open up new opportunities for economic development, investments, tourism and the strengthening of regional cooperation.

The Minister expressed satisfaction with the fact that this major project is being implemented with Spanish Centunion, saying that this is a clear indicator of the trust that international companies have in Serbia, as well as the close relations between the two countries, based on mutual respect and successful economic cooperation.
