The conference, which brought together at the Palace of Serbia 17 delegations from three continents, over 200 participants, and accomplished women from the worlds of politics, business, institutions, international organisations and civil society, provided an opportunity to hear about experiences from various parts of the world regarding how states formulate and implement gender equality policies, as well as for Serbia to showcase the results, experiences, and policies it is implementing in this area.
Through a high-level political roundtable and thematic panels, participants exchanged knowledge and experiences, seeking shared solutions to challenges that transcend borders.
On this occasion, Macura emphasised that the exchange of experiences is one of the greatest values of RISE, as no single state, institution, or generation can address all the challenges women face on its own.
She also highlighted Serbia’s progress regarding women’s participation in decision-making processes, noting that women currently make up approximately 37% of members of parliament: 87 out of the 250 MPs.
Diplomat with the rank of Ambassador of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the First Lady of Serbia from 2017 to 2026 Tamara Vučić also addressed the opening ceremony, stating that the shared goal of all participants is to bring greater freedom, security, opportunities, and progress to future generations of women.
