Improving cooperation with Bosnia and Herzegovina in field of transport infrastructure

Belgrade/Sarajevo, 17 December 2025

Minister of Construction, Transport and Infrastructure Aleksandra Sofronijević met today in Sarajevo with Minister of Communications and Transport of Bosnia and Herzegovina Edin Forto to discuss strengthening the transport infrastructure between the two countries.

Sofronijević emphasised that key capital infrastructure projects, such as the reconstruction and modernisation of the Ruma–Šabac–Loznica–Zvornik–Tuzla–Doboj railway, as well as the construction of the Belgrade–Sarajevo highway, should benefit both Bosnia and Herzegovina and Serbia.

These projects require good coordination, as well as clearly defined planning and technical documentation, the Minister underlined, while also stressing the importance of ensuring appropriate financial models, given the complexity and value of these projects.

The interlocutors expressed their willingness to hold an operational meeting in the coming period, with the participation of all relevant entities and other institutions, in order to concretise the discussions and create conditions for the continued implementation of the agreed activities.
