The crown, sceptre, orb (a sphere symbolising the earthly globe or the world), purple mantle (ceremonial robe) and clasp, used in the only modern-era coronation of a Serbian ruler, are the only preserved royal insignia in the history of Serbia.
The crown is of particular value, made from the handle of Karađorđe’s cannon, and has strong national and symbolic significance as it connects the period of the uprisings with the restoration of Serbian statehood.
The author of the design and the craftsmen who executed the work were prominent representatives of the artistic and artisan circles of their time, which also gives these objects artistic and historical value, while the continuity of preservation, from the royal court to the museum collection, enables reliable documentation of the history of the Serbian monarchy.
At the session, the government adopted a Decree proclaiming the protection of the Prebreza – Palaeontological Site natural monument, in order to ensure the preservation of the abundant wealth of palaeontological material whose origin departs from the previously known Miocene mammalian faunas in the wider region.
The members of the government agreed to undertake the necessary activities for organising the celebration of the 150th anniversary of the work of the Red Cross of Serbia on 6 February 2026 in Belgrade.
