Belgrade doing everything to preserve peace, stability in Kosovo and Metohija

Director of the Serbian government’s Office for Kosovo and Metohija Petar Petković spoke today in Rome with Director General for Europe and International Trade Policy of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of the Italian Republic Nicola Verola.

Petković informed his interlocutor about Serbia’s firm commitment to preserving peace and stability in the Western Balkans and, in that context, Belgrade’s constructive approach to the dialogue with Priština.

Belgrade is doing everything to preserve peace and stability in the area of Kosovo and Metohija and is actively engaged in the dialogue process in Brussels, but there is no interlocutor in Priština willing to reach a sustainable compromise, only to raise tensions and take escalating steps to the detriment of the Serbian people, Petković noted.

He underlined that it is crucial for Priština to fulfil its obligations under the First Brussels Agreement on the Normalisation of Relations and form the Community of Serb Municipalities, which the Serbian people have been waiting for for more than 12 years.

According to him, it is also necessary for Priština to refrain from violent and unilateral actions that directly undermine peace and stability and threaten the survival of the Serbian people, who are victims of the terror of the Priština regime.
