Minister of Science, Technological Development and Innovation Academician Bela Balint opened the International Advanced Training Program in Traditional Chinese Medicine: Development of TCM in Clinical Practice and Research, the aim of which is to improve the dialogue between Serbia and the People’s Republic of China in the field of science and health by connecting the academic community, healthcare professionals and decision-makers.

Speaking at the Chinese Cultural Centre in Belgrade, Balint underlined that Serbia has been chosen as the first country in Europe to host the high-level programme of the Chinese Ministry of Science and Technology in the field of traditional medicine.
According to him, the gathering has been designed as a highly professional platform for the exchange of knowledge and best practices in the field of integrative medicine and modern achievements of traditional Chinese medicine, with a special focus on the prevention and treatment of chronic diseases and painful conditions, reproductive health and oncology, as well as the presentation of innovative technologies and devices.
The Minister announced that the National Centre for Integrative Medicine will be opened next year within the University of Belgrade, noting that negotiations are also under way with Chinese partners on a joint laboratory for research into herbal medicines and personalised medicine based on TCM principles.
