Strengthening accessibility, transparency of judicial institutions

Minister of Justice Nenad Vujić participated today, at the invitation of the Minister of Justice of the Kingdom of Spain, in the Global Roundtable on Equal Access to Justice 2025, which, with the support of the OECD, brought together more than 50 ministers of justice from countries around the world, as well as representatives of the European Union.

During the meeting, which was held in Madrid, the central topic of various panels and discussions was the construction of a judiciary that deserves trust and provides shared prosperity.

Vujić pointed out that the Ministry of Justice has prepared a Draft Law to amend the civil procedure legislation, with the aim of strengthening transparency, efficiency and public trust in the judiciary.

He explained that the reforms are focused on modernising court proceedings in accordance with European Union standards and the case law of the European Court of Human Rights, as well as improving the delivery of documents, recording of hearings and procedural discipline.

Vujić added that the Ministry of Justice has also prepared a Draft Law to amend the Criminal Procedure Code, further harmonising Serbia’s legal framework with EU directives and international instruments in the field of human rights.

According to him, these amendments aim to speed up and simplify proceedings, especially through improved forms of summary proceedings, while preserving full guarantees of a fair trial and the right to defence.
