Minister without portfolio in charge of coordinating activities and measures in the field of relations with the diaspora Đorđe Milićević attended today, on the occasion of Armistice Day, a commemoration at the Serbian Military Cemetery in Thiais, France.

In his address, Milićević recalled that Serbia made disproportionately great sacrifices in the First World War, but that the conflict also confirmed that Serbia stood on the right side – the side of good, freedom and alliance.
He emphasised that more than 700 Serbian soldiers rest in this sacred place, having laid down their lives not only for Serbia, but also for Europe, which was built upon their sacrifices.
The Minister expressed special gratitude to France and its people for preserving the memory of Serbian heroes for more than a century, noting that Serbia and France are bound by a deep historical friendship.
France has been one of Serbia’s greatest European friends since the Great War, when together we fought for victory, for humanity and for Europe, Milićević stated, stressing that safeguarding peace, alliance and freedom remains a lasting duty of all who honour the sacrifices of their ancestors.
