Dačić, as the envoy of the President of Serbia Aleksandar Vučić, attended the central ceremony marking the 50th anniversary of the Republic of Angola’s national independence.
Following the parade held at the Dr António Agostinho Neto Memorial complex, he emphasised that Serbia, that is, the former Yugoslavia, and Angola were sincere friends, and that it was a great honour that representatives of Angola, on the occasion of marking this jubilee, posthumously decorated Josip Broz Tito with an order as a sign of recognition for his and former Yugoslavia’s contribution to the country’s struggle for liberation.
He noted that Angola has a population of 36 million and great potential for the development of bilateral economic cooperation, assessing that it is important to continue nurturing close relations, to which Serbia’s participation in marking the 50th anniversary of the country’s independence also contributes.
The Deputy Prime Minister conveyed that he had the opportunity at the ceremony to meet with President of Angola João Manuel Gonçalves Lourenço, Vice President Esperança da Costa, Minister of External Relations Téte António, as well as other officials of the country.
He also added that he held talks with the presidents of Ghana, India and Portugal, as well as with the foreign ministers of several African countries.
The Republic of Serbia and the Republic of Angola have traditionally friendly diplomatic relations, established in 1975.
