On the occasion of the Armistice Day in World War I, Minister of Labour, Employment, Veteran and Social Affairs Milica Đurđević Stamenkovski laid a wreath at the Memorial Ossuary of the Defenders of Belgrade at the New Cemetery.
Đurđević Stamenkovski recalled that 1,247,000 Serbs did not live to see the end of the war, noting that this is proof that freedom is sacred to our people.
According to her, the Serbs then carried the front line forward even when it was thought that it was impossible.
On this day, when the country remembers the horrors of the Great War, and the people pay homage to the shadows of brave ancestors, we must come together to understand the price of freedom and why it should be preserved as the greatest pledge of the future, she said.
