The reception was attended by Minister of Tourism and Youth Husein Memić, Director of the National Tourism Organisation of Serbia Marija Labović, Bishop Nektarios (Samardžić) of Britain and Ireland, Chair of the British-Serbian Chamber of Commerce Lord Kulveer Ranger, as well as representatives of the Office of the Prime Minister of Serbia, British political and business circles, international institutions, the diplomatic corps and the media.
The importance of southern Serbia as a region with exceptional potential for the development of cultural and sustainable tourism was highlighted.
At the reception, it was emphasised that targeted and thoughtful investments in cultural sites and natural entities are a driver of local economic development, creating space for new jobs, improving infrastructure and strengthening the tourism offer.
The event also featured an artistic and cultural programme, presenting Serbia and its commitment to sustainable cultural tourism and balanced regional development.
At the World Travel Market, Serbia will showcase its key tourism destinations, with an emphasis on connecting cultural heritage, natural values and the local economy, such as Justiniana Prima, Đavolja Varoš, the Ovčar-Kablar Gorge, UNESCO monuments, as well as programmes for the renovation of fortresses, the development of marinas and a tourism route along the Danube, from Sombor to Kladovo.
The main goal of these activities is for each region of Serbia to develop and promote its authentic tourism identity on the international stage, in line with the vision of sustainable tourism and preparations for Expo 2027 in Belgrade.
