Minister of Agriculture, Forestry and Water Management Professor Dragan Glamočić, PhD, chaired today a meeting on the implementation of the project for construction of the Selova dam and multipurpose reservoir, one of the most significant infrastructure projects for water supply of southeast Serbia.

This project aims to ensure a safe water supply for more than half a million residents of southeast Serbia, as well as stable water resources for agriculture, industry and electricity generation.
In addition, the reservoir will help control flood waves and maintain the ecological minimum flow of watercourses, especially the Toplica River, which almost dries up during the dry season.
Glamočić pointed out that if everything goes according to plan, the system will be fully operational by 2030 – not only the reservoir, but also the water infrastructure.
The project will enable the irrigation of approximately 3,500 hectares of new agricultural land and strengthen protection against droughts and floods, which is of crucial importance in the context of increasingly pronounced climate change, the Minister said.
The value of the investment is almost €65 million.
