The vice-rectors and deans informed Macut on the results of enrollment in undergraduate and integrated studies at the University of Belgrade after the third enrollment period, as well as on the challenges faced by the administrations of the faculties that educate teachers in attracting future students, as they are much more likely to opt for studies in the fields of medical sciences, IT, architecture, psychology and others.
Therefore, it was agreed to intensify discussions with the Ministry of Education in order to achieve the goals set by the Serbian Education Development Strategy to 2030, the accompanying Action Plan for the Implementation of this Strategy, and the platforms and initiatives launched in the previous period by the deans of teacher education faculties.
A similar problem with insufficient interest among graduates was expressed by the deans of certain technical faculties, although they educate future experts in promising professions in Serbia, such as mining, metallurgy, agriculture, and chemical engineering.
In a friendly and intensive discussion, the interlocutors raised a number of issues of importance for the further development of higher education in Serbia, improving the quality of education and upbringing in our country, as well as further economic growth based on knowledge and innovation.
A significant part of the conversation dealt with preparations for the start of the next school year 2025/2026, the plans for teaching and organising examination periods in the new academic year that have been adopted, and conditions for enrolling in higher years of studies for self-financing students and those whose studies are financed from the state budget.
