Minister of Labour, Employment, Veteran and Social Affairs Milica Đurđević Stamenkovski met today with United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) Country Director for Serbia Justine Coulson.
The meeting focused in particular on the continuation of cooperation in supporting persons with disabilities, further improvement of the social protection system and support for parents.
Đurđević Stamenkovski informed her interlocutor about Serbia’s planned activities in the coming period concerning the regulation and improvement of the status of parents caring for children with severe developmental disabilities.
It was also highlighted that the Ministry is ready to continue successful cooperation within the UNFPA project aimed at improving digital literacy among older persons, primarily through equipping gerontology centres with modern digital devices.
It was agreed that operational teams will continue working in the coming period on the organisational details of a conference that will showcase Serbia’s progress in supporting rural women and their inclusion in the labour market.
An agreement was also reached to strengthen cooperation with UNFPA within the framework of the organisation’s new programme document for Serbia, as well as on improving the position of older persons, the Law on Social Protection and strengthening demographic resilience in the country.
