Minister of Foreign Affairs Marko Đurić said today in New York that the United States is one of Serbia’s most important bilateral foreign policy partners, with whom we want to improve cooperation on a multilateral level as well.
In a conversation with US Permanent Representative to the United Nations Michael Waltz, Đurić expressed his belief that the United States, together with the administration of President Donald Trump, will contribute to the return to the original values of the UN.
The head of Serbian diplomacy conveyed to his interlocutor his expectation that the issue of Kosovo and Metohija will be treated in an adequate manner and with understanding for our arguments in international organisations.
The energy situation in our region was also discussed, and the Minister requested additional understanding for Serbia’s position.
He also positively assessed the dynamics of high-level talks and contacts with US officials, which are characterised by an open approach even on the most complex topics.
The Minister also emphasised that the strategic dialogue between Serbia and the United States, which is in preparation, is a significant new step forward in the quality of relations between the two countries, and that today's meeting was an opportunity to discuss some of its elements.
