The Coordinating Centre for Kosovo-Metohija stated that last night in Zabare near Kosovska Mitrovica, a group of ethnic-Albanians threw stones at one of the four buses transporting Serbian students from Sirinicka Zupa on their way home from the holiday resort in Baosici, Montenegro.
The statement says that the tour leader, Sasa Radovanovic, who was on the stoned bus, notified the Coordinating Centre that ethnic-Albanians threw stones at the bus, breaking the windows, though luckily none of the elementary school students was hurt.
The coordinating Centre especially emphasised the worrying fact that only one vehicle of the Kosovo Police accompanied the four buses with around 300 children. When the incident occurred, the police made no attempt to capture the attackers, but merely glanced at the damaged bus and ordered the journey to continue as if nothing had happened.
The Coordinating Centre also stressed that attacks on children and attempts at their lives are the cruelest and gravest crimes and harshly condemned the attack at students. It also sent an appeal to the international public and UN members in Kosovo-Metohija asking that they accept the responsibility they had taken upon themselves when they promised to help those in danger.
