At the opening of the International Conference on Political and Economic Empowerment of Women – Belgrade Women’s Conference RISE 2025 (BWC), Macut emphasised that the government he leads includes many women who are recognised experts in their fields and perform their duties at the highest level.
He stated that the law requires at least 40% of candidates on electoral lists to be women, adding that those who are courageous enough to stand for election are certainly prepared and qualified to hold office afterwards.
Speaking about amendments to the Law on the Prevention of Domestic Violence, whose adoption is expected by the end of the year, Macut said that the effects of the law that is in force and was adopted eight years ago are evident, as domestic violence has been significantly reduced.
The implementation of such regulations is of exceptional importance. A series of forthcoming legal measures, which this government has identified as priorities, demonstrates that the state addresses sensitive social issues, the Prime Minister said, citing the Alimony Fund as an example.
Participants in the conference include Minister without portfolio in charge of gender equality, prevention of violence against women and economic and political empowerment of women Tatjana Macura, spouse of the President of Serbia Tamara Vučić and member of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina Željka Cvijanović.
Also participating in the conference are Director of the Office for IT and eGovernment Mihailo Jovanović, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade of Hungary Péter Szijjártó, Minister of Labour and Social Affairs of Armenia Arsen Torosyan, Minister for Inclusion and the Voluntary Sector of Malta Julia Farrugia Portelli and Minister of Family and Social Services of Türkiye Mahinur Özdemir Göktaş.
