Minister of Foreign Affairs Marko Đurić, on behalf of the Republic of Serbia, which holds the chairmanship of the Central European Initiative (CEI), hosted an informal ministerial luncheon in New York, organised during the 80th session of the UN General Assembly.

Strengthening bridges of cooperation among CEI member states

Addressing those present and CEI Secretary General Franco Dal Maso, Đurić stressed that chairing this important international initiative, which fosters regional economic, political and cultural cooperation, is not merely a procedural obligation but a privilege and a responsibility that Serbia does not wish and cannot undertake alone.
The Minister assessed that only through joint determination and strength can we face complex challenges, from economic disparities to migration pressures.
The theme of our chairmanship, “Connecting Europe – Shaping the Future”, indicates that CEI, with its unique composition, is not just a forum for discussion but also a living bridge between EU member states and aspiring partners, between different histories, economies and cultures, Đurić said.
As the head of diplomacy of a country fully committed to open dialogue, inclusive action and tangible results, he invited his colleagues to jointly strengthen the bridges of cooperation.
Let us ensure that they carry not only the weight of our present ambitions but also the hopes of future generations, the Serbian Foreign Minister concluded.
