Prime Minister Professor Đuro Macut, MD, DSc, visited today the Regional Postal and Logistics Centre of the Public Enterprise Pošta Srbije in Belgrade, which houses the postal operator’s new robotic parcel-sorting system.
This modern system, which represents one of the most significant steps towards the digital transformation of Pošta Srbije, will enable faster, more accurate and more efficient parcel processing, as well as significantly reduce the burden on employees in operational processes.
In a conversation with Pošta Srbije Acting General Manager Zoran Anđelković, Macut emphasised that the modernisation of the company’s operations is of strategic importance for the state, noting that the government remains committed to supporting infrastructure improvements, technological development and job preservation.
The Prime Minister was informed of plans to build robotic logistics centres in four more cities in Serbia, to modernise parcel lockers that are increasingly popular with citizens, and to introduce new e-services.
The interlocutors agreed that it is important to continue dialogue and the implementation of measures that will contribute to the sustainable development of the public enterprise and improve the position of all employees.
The robotic platform that Prime Minister Macut visited comprises 153 robots and 216 sorting exits for different districts, with a sorting capacity of 7,000 parcels per hour.
This modern and complex software solution was developed by engineers and programmers at Pošta Srbije.
The software automatically performs six technological operations that were previously carried out manually, significantly reducing the time parcels spend in postal centres and thus shortening delivery times for end users.
Robotic systems have been operating since May in postal and logistics centres in Niš, Novi Sad and Kragujevac, and will soon be implemented in the postal centre in Kraljevo.
