Upward trend of Serbia-China cooperation in defence industry

Belgrade, 21 September 2025

Minister of Defence Bratislav Gašić met today with representatives of a Chinese delegation from the Equipment Development Department of the Central Military Commission of the People's Republic of China, led by the Deputy Head of that department, Major General Zhang Shixian.

During the meeting, aspects of previous cooperation were discussed, and both sides agreed that the cooperation between the two countries is at a high level.

It was once again confirmed that the People's Republic of China is Serbia's main partner in the field of air defence systems and unmanned aerial vehicles, as well as that there is an upward trend in cooperation in other high-tech areas.

Gašić emphasised that it is of particular importance that the two sides intend to expand cooperation models in the coming period, which, in addition to commercial procurement and joint development, which have already been implemented, will also cover the transfer of production technologies and strengthening ties between the defence industries of the two countries.

The Minister expressed gratitude for the donations of equipment and weapons made so far, and the interlocutors reached an agreement that the mechanism of military donations represents one of the important forms of cooperation and a confirmation of the traditional friendship between Serbia and the People's Republic of China.

Representatives of the Chinese delegation evaluated highly the Power of Unity military parade, which they attended the previous day.
