Prime Minister Professor Đuro Macut, MD, DSc, met today with Ambassador of the Hellenic Republic to Serbia Maria Levanti to discuss bilateral relations, with a particular focus on enhancing cooperation through development projects.
Macut said that Serbia attaches great importance to further advancing cooperation with Greece, which is based on mutual trust and friendship between the two countries.
He stated that there is significant potential for improving cooperation in the implementation of joint infrastructure projects, energy, transport, healthcare and education.
Serbia, he added, greatly values Greece’s support for the territorial integrity and sovereignty of our country and its firm position of not recognising the unilaterally declared independence of the so-called Kosovo.
The Prime Minister also expressed gratitude to Greece for supporting Serbia’s European path and stressed that membership in the EU remains the country’s strategic direction.
Levanti said that the relations between the two countries are characterised by strong friendship, mutual trust, historically confirmed closeness and solidarity of the two peoples.
The Ambassador noted that the bilateral economic cooperation between Serbia and Greece is developing successfully and that there is room for its further enhancement.
During the talks, it was assessed that it is necessary to increase the economic cooperation between the two countries in areas where untapped potential has been identified.
