Minister of Defence Bratislav Gašić met today with the Commander of the Ohio National Guard, Brigadier General Matthew Woodruff, to discuss further advancement of cooperation.
Gašić welcomed the new Commander of the Ohio National Guard and on this occasion emphasised the Ministry of Defence’s intention to continue enhancing bilateral military cooperation with the United States, to the mutual benefit of both sides.
He underlined that the Ministry of Defence and the Serbian Armed Forces have been achieving significant cooperation with the Ohio National Guard within the framework of the State Partnership Program, launched in 2006, which represents the foundation of successful bilateral military cooperation between the two countries, highlighting in particular the importance of joint work on the establishment of the South base.
The Minister pointed out the importance of the joint engagement of members of the Serbian Armed Forces and the United States Armed Forces in the multinational peacekeeping operation in the Sinai Peninsula.
Woodruff, who is on his first official visit to Serbia as Commander of the Ohio National Guard, pointed to the wide scope of cooperation within the Ohio-Serbia State Partnership, expressing his confidence that good cooperation in areas of common interest will continue.
