Macut emphasised that Serbia is achieving good cooperation with OSCE institutions, especially with the Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights (ODIHR), demonstrating its readiness to continuously work on improving the electoral system and the overall electoral environment.
He added that, despite numerous challenges it faces, the OSCE represents the most important security platform for dialogue and that Serbia is ready to contribute to its revitalisation and strengthening of constructive action.
The Prime Minister stated that Serbs in Kosovo and Metohija are continuously faced with serious pressures and denial of fundamental human rights as a result of Priština’s unilateral actions, which is a cause of deep concern for Serbia.
Serbia, he added, expects the international community and the OSCE to urgently ensure the protection of individual and collective rights of Serbs in Kosovo and Metohija, in order to prevent their further endangerment and persecution.
According to him, Serbia has positioned itself in relations with its neighbours as a responsible, reliable and predictable partner, committed to resolving outstanding bilateral issues through dialogue – in an equal and principled manner.
Macut underlined that Serbia is deeply committed to protecting and improving the rights of national minorities and is continuously working on strengthening the institutional and legal framework in this area.
He also stressed the importance of respecting the principles of territorial integrity and sovereignty, which Serbia consistently highlights in international fora.
It was assessed that bilateral relations between Serbia and Finland are good, with Serbia highly valuing Finland’s engagement in the implementation of projects in the field of sustainable energy and expressing interest in further advancing cooperation in green technologies, sustainable economy and education.
The Prime Minister emphasised Serbia’s interest in the Finnish education model, proposing that the relevant ministries establish direct cooperation and exchange of experiences.
Valtonen stated that Finland, as OSCE Chairpersonship, highly values Serbia’s commitment to cooperation with the organisation and will continue to support reform processes in Serbia.
She noted that the partnership between Serbia and the OSCE will be continued and additionally strengthened, with joint work on improving the rule of law, democracy and human rights.
