Macut assessed the cooperation to date between Serbia and UNDP as successful, stating that he hopes it will be intensified in the coming period, especially when it comes to the areas of digitalisation and the Green Agenda.
The Serbian government remains on the path of further cooperation and partnership, said the Prime Minister and welcomed the adoption of the new five-year UNDP programme document for the Republic of Serbia, which will deepen cooperation and enable the implementation of projects aimed at improving the quality of life in the country.
The Prime Minister underlined that he expects the work of UNDP in the Autonomous Province of Kosovo and Metohija to continue in accordance with Security Council Resolution 1244.
Beris stressed that UNDP provides support to the Serbian government in various areas in accordance with national priorities, such as the areas of digitalisation and piloting artificial intelligence in the public sector, with a focus on health, agriculture, as well as education and strengthening the digital skills of all citizens.
According to him, UNDP supports initiatives to strengthen Serbia’s resilience to climate change, adaptation to its consequences, and especially in relation to the exploitation of the large potential of geothermal energy and biomethane.
UNDP also supports the further development of the programme of integral development of Serbia with the aim of uniform, sustainable and inclusive development of all parts of Serbia, Beris emphasised.
