Intensifying parliamentary dialogue to strengthen overall relations with Spain

Belgrade/Madrid, 4 September 2025

Minister of Foreign Affairs Marko Đurić discussed today in Madrid with Chairperson of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the Senate of the Kingdom of Spain José Ignacio Landaluce Calleja the modalities of strengthening comprehensive bilateral relations through parliamentary cooperation between the two countries.

Đurić expressed his expectation that the friendly relations between the two countries will be accompanied by more intensive parliamentary dialogue, and invited members of the Senate to visit Serbia.

The head of Serbian diplomacy conveyed his gratitude for the support that Spain provides to Serbia on its path to membership in the European Union and for its principled position when it comes to non-recognition of the unilaterally declared independence of the so-called Kosovo and the position it takes on this issue in international organisations.

The Minister expressed his satisfaction with the confirmed participation of Spain in Expo 2027 in Belgrade, as well as his belief that that country will contribute to the success of this international exhibition with its cultural wealth.
