The Serbian Ministry of Finance stated today that for the first time after 10 years inflation in Serbia is negative on a monthly level and, according to estimations by the Ministry, in July it stands at -0.1%.
According to the statement owing to restrictive measures of the National Bank of Serbia’s monetary policy and the firm budget policy of the Ministry of Finance, growth of prices of industrial goods has been stopped, and there is a seasonal decrease in prices of agricultural products.
These measures have led to reduction in overall previous inflation rate in 2006, which stood at 5.6% following the first seven months. In the upcoming period it is expected that this trend will continue, which will certainly result in the realisation of the projected single-digit inflation rate for this year, reads the statement.
