Minister of Foreign Affairs Marko Đurić stated today, during a meeting with Minister of Foreign Affairs, Francophonie and Diaspora of the Republic of the Congo Jean-Claude Gakosso, that cooperation with the Congo is oriented towards the future and concrete projects in the economy, defence and education.

Addressing the media following the meeting with Gakosso, Đurić expressed gratitude to the Congo for its principled support for Serbia on the issue of the status of Kosovo and Metohija, which has shown that the country is one of the most principled on the African continent and in the international community.
Expressing his desire for as many of Serbian tourists as possible to visit the Republic of the Congo and vice versa, the Minister also highlighted the World in Serbia educational exchange programme, noting that Serbia wishes to see as many students from the Congo as possible at its universities.
He also added that Serbia is very interested in starting other institutional processes in the coming months, such as committees for mutual economic cooperation and various agreements, which will expand the two countries’ contractual base.
Gakosso invited Serbia to build even stronger ties with the countries of that part of Africa through the advancement of overall cooperation with the Republic of the Congo.
The Minister emphasised that the Republic of the Congo advocates for strict respect for international law and provides full support for the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Serbia, emphasising that his country will especially advocate before the international community for the protection of Serbian cultural heritage and historical monuments in Kosovo and Metohija.
