OSCE should influence Priština to respect right of Serbs to elect their representatives

Minister of Foreign Affairs Marko Đurić met today with Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE) High Commissioner on National Minorities Christophe Kamp to discuss the most important issues related to cooperation with the OSCE, with a focus on the current situation and position of the Serbian people in Kosovo and Metohija.

Đurić expressed his expectation that the OSCE, as well as other relevant international factors, will succeed in influencing the current representatives of the authorities in Priština in the coming period to respect the agreements reached under the Brussels Agreement, given that in the past period there has been a significant deterioration in human freedoms and rights, especially of Serbs in Kosovo and Metohija.

The head of Serbian diplomacy informed his interlocutor in detail about the numerous moves and measures of the Priština authorities, which have attempted and are still attempting to make life difficult for Serbs in the southern province and force them to leave, illustrating this with data on arbitrary arrests and physical attacks on representatives of Serb parties and their property.

He highlighted the interest that Serbs and Serb parties, primarily the Serb List, participate under equal and fair conditions in the upcoming elections in Kosovo and Metohija, so that Serb representatives can be represented in an appropriate number and in an adequate manner in all institutions and at all levels of government.
