Prime Minister Macut emphasised that this is not, and must not be, the face of a democratic state, stressing that problems cannot be solved, nor differences in opinion overcome, through violence, as this is possible solely through dialogue and respect for the law.
The Prime Minister particularly underlined that the members of the Ministry of the Interior have once again demonstrated their readiness and dedication to protect citizens and ensure public order and peace, as they have devotedly and responsibly done throughout the past nine months.
I call on all political actors and citizens to calm tensions. Only through reason, patience and mutual respect can we achieve peace and stability. The state will, in accordance with the laws of the Republic of Serbia, take all measures to ensure peace, public order and safe movement for all citizens, regardless of their political or any other affiliation, the Prime Minister said.
He stressed that this is not the path Serbia should take and added that all issues, all disagreements, as well as decisions concerning the future of the country, can be made solely by state institutions and authorities, but also at elections, at the time and in the manner prescribed by law.
The Republic of Serbia remains firmly committed to building a democratic society in which differences are resolved through arguments, not force, Prime Minister Macut concluded.
