State Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Nevena Jovanović spoke today with new Head of the Delegation of the EU to Serbia Andreas von Beckerath and representatives of the embassies of the Quint countries.
During the meeting, views were exchanged on the latest developments in Kosovo and Metohija, including the recent arrest of Assistant Director of the Office for Kosovo and Metohija Igor Popović by Priština authorities.
In this context, Jovanović expressed concern about the continued activities of the provisional Priština institutions, which are leading to a further escalation of tensions and jeopardising efforts to preserve peace and stability on the ground.
She expressed the expectation that the international community, and especially partners from the EU and the Quint countries, will show full understanding for Serbia's positions and respond appropriately to the unilateral and destabilising moves of the other side.
In addition to the new Head of the Delegation of the EU to Serbia, the meeting was attended by the chargés d'affaires of the embassies of Great Britain, the United States, France, Italy and Germany.
