Agreement signed with EU on financing programme for environment, energy

The Ministry of European Integration announced today that Serbia has signed with the European Union the Financing Agreement for the Multiannual Operational Programme on Environment and Energy, worth €325.2 million, €240 million of which are non-repayable IPA funds from the EU.

Serbia’s National IPA Coordinator and State Secretary at the Ministry of European Integration Mira Radenović Bojić underlined that the Agreement enables significant financial support for improving environmental protection and further developing the energy sector.

According to her, in addition to the reconstruction or construction of infrastructure, the programme will support the development of strategic documents and plans for alignment with European Union standards.

Head of the Delegation of the European Union to Serbia Andreas von Beckerath stated that the Agreement is yet another example of the European Union’s strong and long-standing commitment to support Serbia on its EU path.

According to him, this substantial investment, in synergy with the new Growth Plan for the Western Balkans, aims to accelerate Serbia’s alignment with EU standards and help deliver tangible benefits for citizens and the environment.

The programme covers the programming years 2024–2027 and will be implemented from 2025 to 2032, with a co-financing rate of 26.2%.
