Prime Minister Professor Đuro Macut, MD, DSc, held today the first meeting with the members of the Commission for the Analysis of the Work of Higher Education Institutions, established by the Government of Serbia at its session last week.
Macut underlined that the task of the Commission will be to conduct a comprehensive analysis of enrolment policy and the implementation of study programmes over the past five years at universities, faculties and art academies – at the level of undergraduate and master's academic studies, as well as integrated and doctoral academic studies.
He added that the Commission will also analyse indicators such as pass rates by year of study, duration of studies and average grades of students who graduated in the 2023/2024 academic year.
The Prime Minister stressed that special attention will be paid to qualitative and quantitative indicators that may point to the need to improve the higher education system.
According to him, it is necessary to conduct an analysis of the current situation in order to propose concrete measures aimed at improving the situation and modernising higher education.
Macut emphasised that this is an important step towards raising standards in higher education and aligning it with the needs of society and the economy, adding that the Government of Serbia will provide full institutional support in this process.
