Macut underlined that the rule of law is one of the key pillars of a democratic society and the government’s priority within the European integration process.
He emphasised that the government remains committed to attaining reform goals and improving the legal order, as a foundation for stability, justice and the European future of the country, and that it will continue to monitor and support all processes contributing to greater protection of citizens, a balance between rights and obligations and the preservation of the fundamental values of a democratic society, in accordance with European standards and recommendations of the Venice Commission.
The Prime Minister expressed full support for the Ministry of Justice in implementing the planned reforms, highlighting the importance of transparency, accountability and the application of modern technologies in order to strengthen citizens’ trust in the legal system.
The meeting also discussed planned legislative initiatives aimed at a more efficient functioning of judicial bodies, strengthening the rule of law and accessibility for all citizens.
The Minister of Justice presented plans for the digitalisation of the judicial system, enhancing data security and modernising work.
He emphasised that 12 new laws currently in preparation, including amendments to the Law on the Prevention of Domestic Violence and legislation on juveniles, will contribute to strengthening citizens’ trust in the judicial system and a more effective fight against corruption.
Vujić informed the Prime Minister about the Ministry’s priorities in the upcoming period, which include modernising the legal framework, improving the infrastructure of judicial institutions and further advancing digital services within the judiciary.
