Prime Minister Professor Đuro Macut, MD, DSc, expresses his deepest dissatisfaction and concern over the verdict of the Court of Appeal against Milorad Dodik, which confirmed the first-instance verdict of the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
The adoption of such an obviously politically motivated decision indicates only one thing – that it is directed not only against one man, but against the institutions of Republika Srpska and the entire Serbian people, the Prime Minister emphasised.
Macut pointed out that it is particularly symptomatic that such a verdict was announced at a time when Serbia and Republika Srpska are marking three decades since Operation Storm – a tragedy that represents the largest ethnic cleansing on European soil since World War II, when over 250,000 Serbs were expelled from their centuries-old homelands in Croatia.
The attempt to criminalise the legitimate struggle for the constitutional competences of Republika Srpska, for the rights of the Serbian people and for the preservation of the Dayton Peace Agreement through political judgments is a direct blow to the peace and stability of the region, the Prime Minister said.
Macut stated that the Government of the Republic of Serbia will continue to provide every support to the people of Republika Srpska and to advocate for respect for the rights of all peoples and all entities within the framework of internationally recognised agreements.
