Speaking at the forum initiated by the Republic of Türkiye, Đurić emphasised that Serbia values every initiative aimed at enhancing cooperation in the Balkans, particularly those originating from the region itself.
He noted that it is important for the region to demonstrate to the European Union and the broader international community that it is capable of engaging in dialogue on shared challenges, economic opportunities and cooperation in foreign and security policy.
All countries of the region, he said, share the common ambition of full EU membership and can significantly contribute to the economic and social development of Europe.
According to him, the meeting included exchanges of views on global issues, as well as on ways to strengthen regional youth cooperation, which is of particular importance for the future of the Balkans.
The Minister underlined that Serbia consistently lobbies for its interests both in Istanbul and in Brussels, aiming for the region’s European aspirations to be valued in a way that accelerates integration and recognises the contribution of Balkan countries.
He conveyed support for the EU Growth Plan, and Serbia’s key role was highlighted in reducing the number of illegal migrations through the region toward the EU, which represents a concrete contribution to the continent’s stability and security.
On the sidelines of the forum, Đurić also had talks with Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan on bilateral matters and the regional situation.
