Prime Minister Professor Đuro Macut, MD, DSc, announced today that the Government he heads will not deviate from its basic programme principle, which is the protection of national unity and the constitutional order of the country.
Speaking at the Knjaževac Cultural Centre, where he presented the results of the first 100 days of the government's work, Macut emphasised that his hand is extended to all those who sincerely wish well for this country.
Macut stated that he saw his role as Prime Minister primarily as that of a conciliator and mediator in the state of impassioned feelings in which we have found ourselves, and that he therefore took the stance from the beginning that it is necessary to harmonise relations in our society.
The Prime Minister emphasised that such an attitude and stance can and must show the people who sincerely strives for the normalisation of relations in our society and its gradual advancement and improvement, and who is tendentiously and maliciously preparing the ground for a revolution in a state of social unrest and chaos, in order to slow down Serbia on its path of development in such a state of social disarray.
He assessed that the main tool for implementing this plan was the unrest of the people, chaos, disrespect for the law and the Constitution, spreading and transmitting panic through intolerance and exclusivity.
Macut underlined that social harmony will be built as a value through dialogue, tolerance and work, through the construction of a system of values that everyone must share.
Noting that upon the election of the Government, he singled out the need for a fundamental reform of the education system as one of the priority tasks, Macut said that this is a vital need and one of the most important tasks ahead of us.
He expressed his expectation that the Bill on amendments to the Law on textbooks will be presented to MPs in the coming days and emphasised that this law is necessary to reaffirm and re-establish national identity after years and decades of fragmentation.
Macut said that in the first 100 days of its work, the Government made a decision to increase the minimum wage by 9.4 percent from 1 October of this year.
Also, in the previous 100 days, the Petka power plant was officially put into trial operation, which marked the beginning of production of the first "green" megawatts in our country, within the production capacities of the Electric Power Industry of Serbia (EPS).
Macut reiterated on this occasion, when it comes to foreign policy, that Serbia will not impose sanctions on the Russian Federation.
He stated that in the first 100 days of the Government's work, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs successfully established the electronic visa issuance system - eVisa.
Also, the Agreement on Financing the Multiannual Operational Programme for the Environment and Energy Sectors was signed, which provided €240 million in non-refundable funds from the European Union, the Prime Minister added.
He pointed out that our country is facing great challenges and stressed that only a strong and united Serbia will defend every inch of its Kosovo and Metohija and be the guarantor of Republika Srpska and its survival, as well as the protection of its people wherever they live.
The Prime Minister emphasised that in the challenging period behind us, the Ministry of the Interior ensured stability, acted preventively and decisively, protected the rights of citizens and enabled the functioning of public life without disruption.
Macut pointed out that Serbia continues to modernise its borders as a space for cooperation, and that a modern joint crossing with North Macedonia has been opened.
Thanks to the Government's record investments in nautical infrastructure in the Danube region, he said, the number of tourists from river cruises has increased by 10 percent compared to the same period last year.
Also, the Ministry of Health has completed activities on the National Programme for the Prevention and Treatment of Diabetes, which is of vital importance for over 700 thousand Serbian citizens of all ages, the Prime Minister pointed out.
He also recalled that the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Water Management has accelerated the payment of incentives to farmers, with a total of RSD 71.5 billion being paid out.
