Director of the Serbian government’s Office of Media Relations Srdjan Djuric said today that Prime Minister Vojislav Kostunica will decide whether to participate in the meeting dedicated to Kosovo-Metohija’s status after consulting Serbian President Boris Tadic and Serbian Minister of Foreign Affairs Vuk Draskovic and after considering the response of UN Secretary General's Special Envoy Martti Ahtisaari.
Djuric told Tanjug news agency that for Serbia it is of utmost importance that talks on the future status of Kosovo-Metohija are prepared in the best way possible by giving a chance for those talks to lead to a compromise.
This is why the Serbian negotiating team sent several letters to Martti Ahtisaari specifying that special attention be given to good preparation of the talks, Djuric said, noting that the UN Secretary General's Special Envoy has the greatest responsibility for preparation of the status talks.
We gave concrete ideas and suggestions as we wanted to give our contribution so that this meeting and future meetings are prepared in a serious way, stressed Djuric.
Djuric said that following Ahtisaari’s response today, the Serbian Prime Minister will consult Serbia’s chief negotiators Tadic and Draskovic.
